Seattle Seahawks made it official on Tuesday and placed linebacker Chad Brown on injured reserve because of a broken right foot. He was injured during a 14-3 loss to the
Washington Redskins on November 3 and had already been expected to miss the remainder of the season.
The three-time Pro Bowl selection underwent surgery the Monday after the game. Brown, who was injured during the second quarter, recorded a sack against the Redskins to give him six on the season and 70 for his career.
Brown has been with the Seahawks since the start of the 1997 campaign. Last season, Brown collected 8 1/2 sacks while starting all 16 games for Seattle.
Brown spent his first four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers (1993-96).
The Seahawks also placed offensive lineman Steve Hutchinson on injured reserve. He had been sidelined since suffering a broken right leg in a September 29 game against Minnesota.
Hutchinson, who had three screws placed in his fibula, broke his lower right leg with 2:32 remaining in the third quarter and was helped off the field by trainers. He was taken to Swedish Medical Center, where surgery was performed by Drs. Kevin Auld and Ed Khalfayan immediately after the contest.
Hutchinson, a Michigan product, was selected by Seattle with the 17th overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft. pick in the 2001 NFL Draft.
