Amsterdam, Netherlands (My Sportsbook) - Former French Open finalist Martin Verkerk announced his retirement from tennis. The 6-foot-5 Dutchman captured two singles titles during his career, which became a professional one in 1996. He went 0-3 in three ATP matches this past season. The 30-year-old reached the French Open final back in 2003, but lost to Spanish star Juan Carlos Ferrero. He reached a career-high ranking of No. 14 in September of '03. Verkerk's career prize money came in at just over $1.5 million.
