Sao Paulo held off Gremio, which defeated Atletico 2-0 on Sunday and would have captured the championship if Sao Paulo lost. Sao Paulo became the first team to win three straight titles in Brazil and has six overall. Sao Paulo also won titles in 1977, 1986 and 1991. Corinthians, Flamengo, Internacional and Palmeiras (twice) are the only other clubs to win two straight Brazilian championships. |
