Barcelona, Spain (My Sportsbook) - Barcelona will try to extend its undefeated streak to 20 matches and open its lead in La Liga on Saturday when third-place Valencia visits the Camp Nou.
Barcelona hasn't lost since August, when it was stunned by promoted Numancia in its La Liga opener. Since, the Spanish giants have dominated opponents to move to the top of the league and secure advancement in the Champions League.
Valencia started the La Liga season unbeaten in eight matches before dropping a pair of matches in the first half of November, but has bounced back with a draw against Sevilla and a win over Real Betis.
Six-time league champion Valencia has been one of the few teams to have success at Barcelona, earning points in seven of its last 10 visits to Camp Nou. Barca would take another huge step toward its 19th league title with a win this week.
Barcelona will be without top striker Samuel Eto'o, who has 14 goals. But star Lio Messi and Thierry Henry have another 13 goals between them and should have no trouble picking up some slack, not to mention other options off the bench to replace Eto'o.
"We are fortunate to have many players to take his place," Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola said.
Valencia has all three of its top scorers available, including top scorer David Villa and his 12 goals. Juan Mata and Joaquin are Valencia's other threats.
The squad, which is unbeaten in seven of its last eight La Liga matches, played Thursday in the UEFA Cup - tying Club Brugge 1-1 - but didn't use 10 of the 11 players who will likely start this weekend.
Guardiola still thought the fact Valencia faced such a quick turnaround was not fair.
"It is unfair, like loads of things that happen in the world of football," he said. "The players themselves are not considered and nobody realizes that they do not have enough time to recover fully. But it is an exclusive problem to Valencia and it has happened to Barca in the past."
Barcelona didn't play in the Champions League this week, but wraps up the group stage on Tuesday. Valencia wraps up the UEFA Cup in two weeks, but has already clinched a spot in the knockout stage.
Also Saturday, Sporting Gijon hosts Atletico Madrid and second-place Villarreal hosts Getafe.
On Sunday, Racing hosts Athletic Bilbao, Real Madrid hosts Sevilla, Numancia hosts Almeria, Deportivo hosts Malaga, Osasuna hosts Valladolid, Real Betis hosts Espanyol and Mallorca hosts Recreativo.
