Villanova, PA (My Sportsbook) - Scottie Reynolds scored a game-best 23 points to go along with six assists, as No. 17 Villanova routed Houston Baptist, 93-57, at The Pavilion.
Backcourt mate Corey Stokes added 22 points, Dante Cunningham donated 13 points and seven rebounds and Corey Fisher netted 12 points for the Wildcats (8-0).
Houston Baptist (0-7) was paced by Baron Sauls' 22 points and Andrew Puzyk's 17 points. The Huskies have lost all but one game by double figures this season, including a 31-point setback to Marquette early in the campaign.
The Wildcats shot a scorching 56.4 percent from the floor and connected on 12 three-pointers. Houston Baptist also had some success from beyond the arc with 11 treys.
Cunningham's jumper capped an 8-0 spurt to start the game, but Gordon Watt's layup brought the Huskies back within 11-8. That was as close as Houston Baptist got for the remainder of the game.
A layup by Reynolds and three from Stokes brought the lead up to 18-8. Threes by Shane Clark and Reggie Redding and a layup from Fisher capped a 15-0 stretch for a 26-8 edge just over midway through the half.
Houston Baptist was resilient, cutting the deficit to 32-18 before going cold from the floor again. The Huskies went nearly six minutes without a field goal, and Villanova took advantage with 12 straight points, finished off by Cunningham's jumper.
Villanova led 48-22 at the half.
A Cunningham jumper and Stokes' trey pushed the edge to 53-22 early in the second 20 minutes, and Villanova cruised to victory from there.

The Huskies committed 21 turnovers that turned into 33 Villanova points...The Wildcats also outscored Houston Baptist in the paint to the tune of 26-12...This was the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
