Landover, MD (My Sportsbook) - Eli Manning threw for 305 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown to Amani Toomer, and Brandon Jacobs ran for another score, as the New York Giants defeated the Washington Redskins, 23-7, at FedEx Field.

Manning finished 21-of-34 passing and was picked off one time, while Jacobs rushed for 71 yards. Toomer caught five passes for 85 yards for the Giants (11-1), who have won seven straight games since dropping a 35-14 decision to Cleveland on October 13.

John Carney kicked three field goals for New York, which can clinch the NFC East Division next Sunday with either a win over Philadelphia or a Dallas loss at Pittsburgh. Derrick Ward finished with 105 total yards for the Giants.

New York has emerged victorious in 15 of its 16 most recent away games dating back to last season and improved to 8-0 against NFC opponents this season.

The Giants were without starting wide receiver Plaxico Burress, who is suffering from a hamstring injury. Burress was also involved in an apparent accidental shooting at a New York night club on Friday evening when he reportedly suffered a self-inflicted wound to his right thigh.

Jason Campbell was 23-of-38 passing for 232 yards and an interception, while Devin Thomas scored his first career NFL touchdown on a 29-yard run for Washington (7-5), which has dropped three of its last four.

Clinton Portis was limited to 22 yards rushing on 11 carries and one catch for 15 yards for the Redskins. Chris Cooley had six grabs for 71 yards in defeat.

With the Giants clinging to a 13-7 lead after one half, New York stretched its lead after Jacobs banged in from a yard out, putting the finishing touches on eight-play, 48-yard set with 8:33 left in the third.

Washington appeared to have something going offensively on its next drive, but Campbell's pass intended for Antwaan Randle El was picked off by Aaron Ross at the Giants' five-yard line.

Carney's third field goal of the afternoon, from 39 yards out, put the Giants ahead by a 23-7 margin with 6:26 left in the fourth period.

With the Redskins working the hurry-up offense on their ensuing drive, they quickly got to midfield. Facing a 4th-and-6 from the Giants' 34, Campbell's pass for Randle El fell incomplete with 3:25 remaining, and New York took over on downs.

After the Giants went three-and-out, the Redskins had one last chance to muster some points. Campbell's short pass to Santana Moss was caught but fumbled, and New York recovered as time expired to end the game.

The Giants opened the scoring on their first offensive possession of the contest, going 71 yards on seven plays. After the Redskins went three-and-out, Manning converted two key third-downs by hitting Domenik Hixon with first-down passes on both occasions. Then, from the Washington 40, Manning connected with Toomer down the far sideline for the score, giving the visitors the early advantage.

Carney's 31-yard field goal with 2:11 left in the opening quarter upped the Giants' lead to 10-0. Carney added a 38-yard effort in the early stages of the second stanza.

The Redskins responded on their ensuing offensive set, when Thomas scored on a 29-yard end around, capping a six-play, 57-yard drive to make it a 13-7 game near the midway point of the quarter.

Shaun Suisham's 42-yard field goal attempt in the final seconds of the half sailed wide right, and the Giants took a six-point edge into the break.

Game Notes

Taylor was killed in a shooting last year in Florida...The Redskins had their four-game road winning streak halted...The Giants now have a 87-61-4 advantage in the all-time regular season series with Washington...New York head coach Tom Coughlin improved to 8-5 against the Redskins all-time...Hixon had five catches for 71 yards.
