Knicks try to avoid distractions vs. Warriors

(My Sportsbook) - The New York Knicks aim to get back on track when they open a quick two-game homestand tonight by welcoming the Golden State Warriors to historic Madison Square Garden.

The Knicks dropped their second straight game to fall under .500 on the season Wednesday when Detroit's Rodney Stuckey was one of eight Pistons in double figures with 13 points while also doling out a career-high 11 assists to lead Detroit in a 110-96 rout of New York.

Al Harrington poured in a game-high 25 points for the Knicks, who have dropped five of six overall. David Lee had 17 points and hauled in 15 boards, while Wilson Chandler had 15 points but was ejected in the third quarter for arguing a call and then punching the ball into the stands.

In injury news for the Knicks, guards Cuttino Mobley (heart) and Nate Robinson (strained right groin) are questionable for tonight's game.

New York will also be without the services of enigmatic guard Stephon Marbury tonight. The Knicks suspended the former All-Star for one game, without pay, for refusing to play against Detroit.

"A player's central obligation is to provide his professional services when called upon," said Knicks president Donnie Walsh in making the announcement. "Because he refused the coach's request to play in the team's last game, we had no choice but to impose disciplinary action."

Marbury has not played this season and has been at odds with new coach Mike D'Antoni, who had apparently planned to use the Brooklyn native in a very limited role this year.

According to the New York Post, Wednesday was the second instance in which Marbury was asked to play and refused.

Golden State has lost five in a row and every game so far on its five-game road trip (0-4). In Friday's 112-97 setback to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena, C.J. Watson scored 17 points and Jamal Crawford contributed 15 points and six assists.

Crawford will face the Knicks for the first time since they traded him to the Warriors last week for Harrington.

Golden State swept the home-and-home season series between the two clubs last season and has won six of its last seven games with the Knicks.

The Warriors have won five of their last seven games at MSG.
