Anaheim, CA (My Sportsbook) - Teemu Selanne scored two power play goals to guide Anaheim to a 4-1 win over the
Colorado Avalanche.
Chris Kunitz and Chris Pronger also scored, while Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 29 saves for the Ducks, winners of back-to-back contests.
"I think it was a very solid 60 minutes," said Giguere. "Nice goals, good PK (penalty killing), our power play was rolling. That is the way we need to play, especially at home."
Ian Lapierreire had the lone goal for the Avalanche, who have dropped three of their last four contests. Peter Budaj stopped 16 of 19 shots before being lifted for the final period. Andrew Raycroft gave up a goal on five shots in the third.
"We've just been struggling to score goals lately, I would say the last seven to 10 games," said Colorado defenseman Ruslan Salei. "We're getting our chances, it's just a matter of time when we start scoring again. Until then, it's pretty tough to win games when you score one or fewer goals, it's too much relying on your goalie."
Anaheim put up the first three goals of the night and never looked back. Selanne scored his 11th of the season at the 10:19 mark of the first. With the Avalanche penalized for too many men on the ice, the Ducks took advantage as Corey Perry passed the disc from the left of the net to the right side for a tap-in. That gave Selanne his 200th career power play goal.
Kunitz scored 3:20 later just after a hooking penalty to Colorado's Tyler Arnason expired, and it became 3-0 on Pronger's goal at 6:51 of the second on a shot from above the right circle.
Lapierreire deflected in Jon-Michael Liles' shot 2:13 into the third period, but Selanne struck again at the 11:17 mark on a blast from the slot.
