Stuttgart, Germany (My Sportsbook) - Stuttgart has sacked coach Armin Veh after a run of five games without a win left the club down in 11th place in the Bundesliga table. Veh's final game in charge was a 4-1 thrashing at Wolfsburg at the weekend, with Markus Babbel handed the reins for the time being. Club president, Erwin Staudt, confirmed: "Armin Veh and assistant coach Alfons Higl have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect. "This was a difficult decision because we are grateful for what they have achieved over the last three years. "Markus Babbel will take over as coach and Rainer Widmayer will be trainer. We hope that both can lead VfB back on to the road to success." Staudt added that he hoped the change would bring about an upturn in form and focus the minds of the club's players on the job in hand. "I have also spoken to the players and made it clear to them that they all have to play to their potential," he said. "We don't want the dismissal of Armin Veh to be an alibi for the players. "I expect every single one of them to concentrate fully on their tasks. This should send a shudder through the team and I hope that we can now master the upcoming tasks." (Courtesy of sportbox.tv)
