(My Sportsbook) - The Pittsburgh Penguins will aim for their eighth victory in nine games when they welcome the
Vancouver Canucks for this afternoon's showdown at Mellon Arena.
The Penguins have yet to lose a game in regulation this month, as they've posted a 7-0-1 record in November. Pittsburgh last failed to get a point in a game on October 30, when it dropped a 4-1 decision in Phoenix.
Pittsburgh was handed a shootout loss by visiting Minnesota on Tuesday, but rebounded with Thursday's road victory over Atlanta. Petr Sykora's power-play goal late in the third period was the difference, as the Pens topped the Thrashers, 3-2, at Philips Arena.
Sidney Crosby picked up a goal and two assists while Miroslav Satan also scored for the Penguins, who are second in the Atlantic Division with 27 points.
Dany Sabourin needed just 21 saves to earn his third win in four starts. Sabourin has been the starter in the absence of No. 1 goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, who is expected to miss his third straight game with an unspecified lower-body injury.
The Penguins are 6-2-2 as the host team this season and had won five straight at the Igloo before Tuesday's setback against the Wild.
The Canucks are 2-0-1 on a four-game road trip that ends today and are coming off Thursday's close win at Minnesota. Pavol Demitra had a goal and an assist to help Vancouver defeat his old team, 3-2, at Xcel Energy Center.
Demitra had spent the previous two seasons with Minnesota, but signed as a free agent with the Canucks in the offseason.
Daniel Sedin scored the game-winning goal with 8:19 left in the third period while Curtis Sanford made 28 saves for the Northwest Division-leading Canucks, who are 6-0-2 in their last eight games.
Vancouver had won five straight against Pittsburgh until last season's 2-1 home shootout loss. The Canucks have still won their last three in the Steel City.
