Mount Pleasant, MI (My Sportsbook) - Central Michigan University has agreed in principle with head football coach Mike DeBord on a contract extension that will keep the coach with the Chippewas through the 2006 season. Details will be finalized at a later date. "We're committed to Mike DeBord and feel he is the right man for the job," said CMU athletics director Herb Deromedi. "We are sending a message to our current players, and those to come in the future, about the confidence we have in our head coach and the direction he's moving the program." Prior to coming to Central Michigan, DeBord worked as an assistant coach at the University of Michigan for eight years. He is in his third season as head coach of the Chippewas, who have a record of 4-6 this year.
