Denver, CO (My Sportsbook) - Jason Chimera and Derick Brassard both registered a goal and an assist to lead the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 4-2 win over the
Colorado Avalanche at the Pepsi Center.
Andrew Murray and Jan Hejda also scored for the Blue Jackets, who snapped a three-game losing streak and won for just the second time in 15 career road meetings (2-12-1) against the Avalanche. Fredrik Norrena made 30 saves, including 13 in the third period, to get the win.
"It was good to get up, especially in this building," said Chimera. "It's a hard building to win in that's for sure."
Paul Stastny and Tyler Arnason each netted a goal for Colorado, which has dropped two games in a row on the heels of a five-game winning streak. Andrew Raycroft, making his first start in 12 days, allowed four goals on 14 shots before he was replaced by Peter Budaj at the beginning of the third period. Budaj stopped all three shots he faced.
"We got to go out and get the first one (goal) and not play from behind," said Stastny. "Sometimes we want to make the extra pass, instead of just putting it (the puck) on net."
Brassard, coming down his off-wing, snapped a wrister that sailed over Raycroft's left shoulder, putting the Blue Jackets on the board 1:38 into the contest.
Chimera put Columbus up 2-0, firing a shot past the glove hand of Raycroft at the 8:30 mark of the second period. Murray gave the visitors a three-goal advantage a little over five minutes later, and Hejda made it 4-0 with 3:12 remaining in the middle stanza. Off the rush, Chimera slipped a pass through traffic to Hejda, trailing the play. Hejda moved in and ripped a shot from the slot that beat the Avalanche netminder on the stick side.
Colorado got on the board with 1:31 to play in the middle stanza on Stastny's marker. Arnason added a power-play goal with 1:27 remaining in the third to account for the final score.
