(My Sportsbook) - The
Vancouver Canucks will try to solve their road woes tonight, as they visit the
Los Angeles Kings and the Staples Center.
Vancouver went 2-4-0 on a recent six-game road trip, dropping the final three games of that swing. The Canucks then split a pair of home games and now hit the road for two straight.
The Canucks, though, are averaging just 2.67 goals per game as the road team and have a power-play percentage of just 8.3 as the visitor.
In Tuesday's home test against Boston, Tim Thomas stopped all 31 shots he faced for his second consecutive shutout and the Bruins downed the Canucks, 1-0.
Roberto Luongo made 29 saves for the Canucks, who have lost four of their last five games. Luongo has a 4.05 goals against average and .870 save percentage in five road starts this year compared to a 1.34 GAA and .952 save percentage in three home tests.
He is 5-5-1 in 11 career starts against the Kings, going 1-2-0 against them last year.
Los Angeles began a seven-game homestand on Monday, but fell to 2-2-1 as the host after a 4-3 shootout loss to the Red Wings.
Los Angeles went first in the shootout, but Dustin Brown couldn't put the puck past Chris Osgood on a sweeping attempt from the right side. Pavel Datsyuk then managed to score, switching quickly from forehand to backhand and flicking the puck over Jason LaBarbera, off the right post and into the net.
Osgood stuffed Oscar Moller's attempt with his left pad before Henrik Zetterberg skated in, faked out LaBarbera and also lifted the puck over the out-of-position goaltender with a backhand shot.
Moller, Kyle Calder and Alexander Frolov each lit the lamp for the Kings, who have lost two in a row. Anze Kopitar had an assist, giving him four over his last three games.
LaBarbera made 34 saves in the loss and is 2-0-0 with a 2.51 GAA in two career contests against Vancouver.
The Canucks have won four of their last seven versus the Kings, though the two clubs have split their last six in the City of Angels.
