Calgary, AB (My Sportsbook) - Rene Bourque and Mike Cammalleri both tallied a goal and an assist while Miikka Kiprusoff stopped all 22 shots he faced, as the Calgary Flames blanked the Colorado Avalanche, 3-0, at Saddledome.

Curtis Glencross also scored for the Flames, who have won four straight games and will close the season's opening month on Thursday at home versus Boston.

"Everybody is playing much better," said Kiprosuff. "They help me out and the forwards are doing great, backchecking and helping us out. That wasn't our best effort. We can be much better."

Peter Budaj allowed three goals on 30 shots for the Avalanche, who saw their five-game win streak halted.

Following a scoreless opening period in which the teams combined for a total of 24 shots, the second stanza saw less scoring chances. The best opportunity for the Flames in the session occurred with 6:10 remaining. David Moss' wrist shot from the right circle was saved and the rebound caromed directly to Cammalleri, whose backhander was gloved by Budaj.

The scoring chances continued into the third frame. Calgary's Dustin Boyd failed to cash in from the left post over two minutes in while Ian Laperriere's slap shot from the right circle went wide at the other end moments later.

Several minutes later, Bourque hit the crossbar with a wrist shot from inside the left circle but the Flames finally found the back of the net at the 8:22 mark. Moss gained control of the puck along the rear boards and skated toward the net near the right post before a pass into the low slot, where Langkow's one-timer beat Budaj.

The Flames made it 2-0 with 7:02 remaining in regulation on Bourque's second goal of the season. The same crossbar he hit earlier in the stanza with a wrist shot ended up helping him light the lamp. Bourque out-muscled veteran defenseman Adam Foote along the rear boards, used the crossbar for leverage and tucked home a stuffer inside the right post.

"We had some breakdowns, I think we got stopped sometimes in the neutral zone," said Colorado's Paul Stastny. "Other than that, we have to pull that game out there in the end. We tried to get to overtime and get a point."

Just over two minutes later, Cammalleri capped the scoring with his third goal of the season. Bourque keyed the tally when he again provided strong forechecking behind the net along the rear boards and drifted toward the net with control of the puck. He then passed into the low slot near the inner rim of the left circle and Cammalleri buried the disc into the back of the net at the 15:03 mark.

Game Notes

Colorado has dropped three straight in Calgary...Kiprusoff stopped 13 shots in the first period, seven more in the second and two in the final stanza...The teams combined to go scoreless on five power-play chances, three of which were awarded to the Avs...This marked the first shutout of the season for Kiprusoff and the 24th of his career...Attendance was 19,289.
