(My Sportsbook) - The Ottawa Senators will try to put the brakes on a four- game losing streak tonight, when they visit the first-place Buffalo Sabres in a Northeast Division matchup at HSBC Arena.

The Senators are just 2-5-1 on the season and haven't won since a 6-3 decision against Phoenix on October 17.

Ottawa's latest setback came Saturday in Toronto as Alexei Ponikarovsky's game-winning goal in the third period lifted the Maple Leafs to the 3-2 triumph.

Shean Donovan and Dean McAmmond scored for the Senators, while Alex Auld made 35 saves in defeat.

Tonight's test marks the second stop on a four-game road trip for the Senators, who are 1-1-0 as the visiting club this season. Ottawa will also pay visits to Florida and Tampa Bay on the swing.

The Sabres, meanwhile, are 6-0-2 and one of just two teams remaining in the NHL without a regulation loss. Buffalo, which leads the Northeast with 14 points, is coming off Saturday's shootout loss in Denver.

Ryan Smyth scored the game-winning goal in the fifth round of the shootout, and the Colorado Avalanche came away with a 2-1 victory at the Pepsi Center.

Daniel Paille scored the lone regulation tally for the Sabres, who have dropped two of their last four games. Ryan Miller let in one goal on 29 shots in defeat.

The Sabres are a perfect 3-0 in western New York this year and are kicking off a three-game homestand tonight.

Buffalo has taken two of the last three encounters with the Senators, but Ottawa has still won four of six and six of nine in the series. The Sens have also come out on top in their previous three stops to Buffalo.
