Cary, NC (My Sportsbook) - Eduardo Romero closed with a six-under 66 for a comfortable three-shot win Sunday at the SAS Championship, his third victory of the season. The 54-year-old Argentine, who won the U.S. Senior Open Championship last month, finished 54 holes at 15-under-par 201 for his fourth career Champions Tour title. Tom Kite, the 1992 U.S. Open champion, shot a three-under 69 and took second place at 12-under 204 -- his second consecutive runner-up. Andy Bean and Gil Morgan both shot 67s to tie for third place at 11-under 205, while second-round leader Bruce Fleisher (72) shared fifth with Jim Thorpe (67) at 10-under 206. Romero looked like he might let the field back into the tournament when he missed the green badly and took a bogey on the 13th hole, trimming his lead to two shots. But he birdied two of his last five holes to lock down the $315,000 first-place check. MORE TO FOLLOW.
