Knoxville, TN (My Sportsbook) - Willis McGahee rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown as second-ranked Miami-Florida handled Tennessee, 26-3, at Neyland Stadium. Ken Dorsey completed 18-of-35 passes for 245 yards and a touchdown for the Hurricanes (9-0), who extended the nation's longest winning streak to 31 games.
Miami and Ohio State are now the only unbeaten teams left in I-A football. Oklahoma, which knocked the Hurricanes out of the No. 1 ranking last week, was upset by Texas A&M and Bowling Green lost to Northern Illinois.
Cedric Houston had 111 yards rushing for the Volunteers (5-4), who have dropped three of their last four contests. Casey Clausen was 5-for-14 for 63 yards in the loss, but only played the first half after re-injuring his right ankle in the second quarter.
The Vols took a 3-0 lead with 12:49 left in the opening quarter. Houston set up Alex Walls' 21-yard field goal with a 74-yard run down the right sideline on the second play from scrimmage. However, Tennessee was forced to go for the field goal after Jabari Davis was stopped for no gain on first down and Clausen threw incomplete on second and third.
Miami knotted the score on Todd Sievers' 37-yard field goal with 10:02 left. Jason Geathers sparked the field goal drive with a 52-yard kickoff return to the Tennessee 45-yard line.
Sievers added a 39-yard field goal with 4:07 remaining to give Miami the lead for good.
McGahee scored on a one-yard run to give the Hurricanes a 13-3 lead with 13:41 left in the second quarter. Dorsey completed a 44-yard pass to Andre Johnson to key the drive and get Miami to the nine-yard line.
Sievers kicked two more field goals to give Miami a 19-3 advantage at halftime. He kicked a 44-yarder with 10:57 left and was good from 25 yards out with 2:02 remaining. However, he missed a 38-yard field goal as time ran out.
The teams traded punts to start the second half before Miami moved 61 yards downfield for a touchdown. Dorsey, who completed 4-of-4 passes for 59 yards on the drive, gave the Hurricanes a 26-3 lead with an 11-yard TD pass to Kellen Winslow with 5:23 remaining in the third.
The Hurricanes defense took over the in the second half, allowing the Volunteers just 53 yards in the final 30 minutes.
The Volunteers dropped to 4-3 at home this season. It marks the first time Tennessee has been handed three home losses in a year since 1988.
Tennessee had won the only previous meeting, downing the Hurricanes, 35-7, in the 1986 Sugar Bowl.
