Junction City, OR (My Sportsbook) - Bubba Dickerson fired a six-under 66 Friday to grab the lead after two rounds of the Oregon Classic.
Dickerson completed 36 holes at 11-under-par 133. He was just one stroke off the tournament's 36-hole scoring record.
Darron Stiles is alone in second place at minus-10 after his second straight five-under 67.
Matt Bettencourt, who shared the first-round lead with Ryan Hietala, managed a two-under 70 at Shadow Hills Country Club. He dropped into a tie for third at nine-under-par 135.
Bettencourt led late in the second round before a double-bogey on 16 and a bogey on 17 left him tied with Brendon de Jonge (68), who is the Nationwide Tour's leading money winner, and Won Joon Lee (67).
Hietala is one shot back at minus-eight after shooting 71 Friday. He shares sixth place with Brian Smock (68).
Dickerson got his round going with birdies on two and four. After a trio of pars, he drained three straight birdies from the eighth to jump to 10-under.
The 27-year-old, who won the 2001 U.S. Amateur, faltered to bogeys on the 11th and 12th to slide to minus-eight.
"I walked off the 12th green and said 'Hey, I haven't really hit a bad golf shot today,'" Dickerson said. "On those two holes, I was just on the wrong side of the hole. I made two bogeys from maybe being too aggressive because I was going along so good."
Dickerson recovered those lost strokes with birdies at 13 and 15. He moved to 11-under with a birdie on the par-four 17th.
With just four events left before the Nationwide Tour Championship, players are battling not only for a spot in that field, which is the top-60 on the money list, but also to get into the top-25 on the money list, which would give them their PGA Tour card for next season.
Dickerson currently stands 47th on the money list, but could jump as high as 16th with a win this week.
"You always feel like you need to make a bunch of money out here," stated Dickerson.
Stiles carded three birdies on both the front and back nines. However, he did drop a shot on the par-four 11th to end alone in second.
Brad Fritsch and Hunter Haas both shot five-under 67 Friday. They were joined at seven-under-par 137 by Henrik Bjornstad (68), B.J. Staten (70) and Jarrod Lyle (68), who is No. 2 on the tour's money list.
The cut line fell at three-under-par 141 with 64 players moving on to the weekend. Among those who missed the cut were Greg Chalmers, No. 6 on the money list, as well as Nos. 23 and 24 on the money list, Ricky Barnes and Justin Hicks.
