(My Sportsbook) - Right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez looks to continue a run of second-half success tonight when the
Colorado Rockies visit the
Atlanta Braves in the finale of a three-game series at Turner Field.
Jimenez was 4-9 through 20 starts as of mid-July before a 10-start run that's seen him go 6-3 with a no-decision and reach double-digit victories for the first time in his brief major-league career.
The 24-year-old reached the majors and made two appearances with the Rockies in 2006, then returned for 15 starts last season while going 4-4 over 82 innings of work.
He's made 30 starts this season, including a 4-8 record in 15 appearances away from home.
Lifetime against the Braves, Jimenez is 1-2 with a 6.32 earned run average in 15 2/3 innings.
For Atlanta, right-hander Jair Jurrjens faces the Rockies for the third time in 2008.
The 22-year-old Curacao native dropped a 4-3 verdict in his second start on April 8 after allowing nine hits and four runs in seven innings, then rebounded on June 16 for a 7-1 win that saw him scatter eight hits over 7 2/3 scoreless innings.
His picked up his 10th win of the season against Philadelphia on July 25 and is 2-4 in eight starts, including a 10-5 defeat of the Washington Nationals in his most-recent outing in Sept. 5.
Jurrjens, who reached the majors and made seven starts with Detroit last season, is 6-4 in 14 home starts in 2008.
On Wednesday, Kelly Johnson hit a pair of solo home runs, as the Braves downed the Rockies, 9-5.
Chipper Jones finished 3-for-4 with a homer, a walk and three runs scored for the Braves, who have won two straight games and four of their last six overall. Brian McCann collected three hits, including two doubles, and drove in a run.
James Parr pitched six shutout innings, allowing five hits, but did not factor into the decision. Blaine Boyer gave up three runs without retiring a batter. Jeff Bennett (3-6) picked up the win after he recorded the final two outs in the seventh.
Ian Stewart homered and Jeff Baker knocked in two runs for Colorado, which has dropped four straight games. Troy Tulowitzki had three hits and scored a run.
Livan Hernandez surrendered four runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings of work. Luis Vizcaino (1-1) was saddled with the loss after he was touched for three runs and did not retire a batter.
Colorado has split six matchups with the Braves this season.
