(My Sportsbook) - Derek Lowe will try to extend his streak of 19 consecutive scoreless innings tonight, when the
Los Angeles Dodgers conclude a three-game series with the
San Diego Padres at Petco Park.
Lowe is 3-1 with a 1.02 ERA over his last five starts, and 14 innings of his current shutout streak have come in back-to-back starts versus Arizona. That includes last Friday's outing in which he hurled eight scoreless frames while allowing just two hits and a pair of walks.
The 35-year-old is now 12-11 with a 3.53 ERA this year, though he is pitching to a 5.06 ERA in 14 road starts.
Lifetime, the right-handed Lowe is 4-3 with a 2.81 ERA in 14 career starts versus the Padres.
The Dodgers moved 2 1/2 games up on Arizona for the lead in the National League West after topping the Padres, 6-2, on Tuesday. The Diamondbacks, meanwhile, lost to San Francisco.
Manny Ramirez hit the 522nd homer of his career in last night's win, moving him past Willie McCovey, Frank Thomas and Ted Williams for 17th place on the all-time list. Ramirez has 12 homers in 37 games with the Dodgers this year and 32 total on the season.
Andre Ethier drove in four runs to help Los Angeles capture its ninth win in the last 10 games.
Kevin Kouzmanoff and Chase Headley both drove in a run for the Padres, who left 10 men on base and saw their two-game win streak halted.
Shawn Estes makes his second start for the Padres tonight since returning from a fractured thumb.
Estes hadn't pitched since May 28 due to the ailment before getting a win over Milwaukee on Thursday. The left-hander allowed just a run and seven hits over six innings of work.
Estes, 35, is 2-1 with a 2.97 ERA in six appearances this year and 6-8 with a 5.15 ERA in 28 career tests versus the Dodgers, who he hasn't faced since 2005.
LA has won eight of 14 versus San Diego this year, with the clubs having split eight games at Petco Park.
