Houston, TX (My Sportsbook) - The Houston Astros plan to purchase the contract of veteran reliever Dave Borkowski from Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday. The 31-year-old Borkowski recorded a 2-2 record with two saves and a 2.43 earned run average in 27 games for Round Rock this season. In 22 games for the Astros, he has posted a 7.45 ERA. Borkowski owns a 5.83 ERA in 177 career games (21 starts) for Detroit (1999-2001), Baltimore (2004) and Houston (2006-08). Meanwhile, Houston purchased the contract of Mark Saccomanno from Round Rock on Monday. The 28-year-old Saccomanno hit .297 with 27 home runs, and 84 RBI in 137 games for Round Rock in 2008.
