Lausanne, Switzerland (My Sportsbook) - The Olympic committee for the Netherlands Antilles has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport to try and get back the silver medal that was taken away from Churandy Martina in the men's 200-meter race.

Martina finished the race second to world-record setter Usain Bolt of Jamaica on Aug. 20 at the Beijing Games. Martina was subsequently disqualified by the IAAF for having run outside of his lane.

Also in the race, Wallace Spearmon of the U.S. was disqualified for stepping outside his lane. Spearmon would've finished in third place, but the disqualifications moved his countryman Shawn Crawford into the silver position, while fellow American Walter Dix moved up to take the bronze medal.

"The NAOC requests the CAS to invalidate the procedure followed by the IAAF Jury of appeal and to annul the disqualification of Churandy Martina, mainly for formal reasons," the CAS said in a statement. "USA Track and Field and the United States Olympic Committee have both requested to participate in this arbitration procedure."
