Joel Pineiro allowed four runs on six hits and two walks in five innings, with three strikeouts. Jonathan Broxton pitched a scoreless ninth for his 11th save of the season. The Dodgers, coupled with a Diamondbacks victory earlier Monday, remained 2 1/2 games behind Arizona for the NL West lead. Adrian Gonzalez had a double and scored a run and Kevin Kouzmanoff drove in a run as the Padres snapped their two-game winning streak. Chris Young (4-5) made his first appearance since August 10, throwing five innings and giving up four runs and six hits while striking out three and walking three.
