Waco, TX (My Sportsbook) - Riley Skinner went 27-of-36 passing for 220 yards and three touchdowns to lead 23rd-ranked Wake Forest in a 41-13 romp over Baylor in the season opener for both schools.

Ben Wooster caught six passes for 90 yards and a score for the Demon Deacons (1-0), who are coming off a 9-4 mark last season that included a Meineke Car Care Bowl win over Connecticut.

Chip Brinkman had 29 yards receiving on three catches, but two of those went for scores. Josh Adams and Brandon Pendergrass each had 14 attempts rushing and a touchdown.

Robert Griffin completed 11-of-19 passes for 125 yards for Baylor (0-1), which opened the Art Briles era with a loss. After a 3-9 finish last season that included a season-ending eight-game losing streak, Baylor brought in Briles to replace head coach Guy Morriss.

Kirby Freeman also saw time at quarterback and went 4-of-11 for 31 yards and was intercepted twice. Griffin ran 11 times for 29 yards and a touchdown, while Jacoby Jones added a rushing touchdown.

Wake Forest wasted little time in getting on the scoreboard. The school had advantageous field position after a Baylor punt went just 14 yards to the Bears' 36-yard line.

Skinner helped get the ball down to the 23, where Sam Swank booted a 40-yard field goal with 12:19 remaining. Baylor then went three-and-out, giving the Demon Deacons the ball back on their own 38. Skinner completed five passes on the 12-play drive, including a 12-yard scoring strike to Brinkman at the front of the end zone that the receiver caught with a defender on his back.

The touchdown gave Wake Forest a 10-0 lead midway through the quarter, and the school bridged the first and second stanzas with another scoring drive. Pendergrass capped the 11-play march with a pair of three-yard runs, boosting the Deacons' lead to 17-0 less than a minute into the new frame.

Baylor's Dwain Crawford recovered a Wake Forest fumble -- by Marshall Williams, on a run after the catch -- at the Demon Deacons' 44, and the turnover led to Baylor's first points. The Bears' rushing attack propelled the drive, as Griffin went for 22 yards to bring the ball to the Wake Forest 12, and Jones pounded it into the end zone from there to make it a 17-6 game, following a failed kick.

But Swank added a 42-yard field goal in the final minute, and Wake Forest led 20-6 going into halftime.

The visitors started to pull away in the third quarter. Skinner completed an eight-yard score to Brinkman midway through the stanza, then found Wooster for 43 yards all the way to the end zone several minutes later. That strike put Wake Forest up 34-6 with 3:04 left in the third.

Griffin found the end zone on a five-yard run to open the fourth-quarter scoring, but a turnover helped the Deacons score later in the frame. Crawford this time was the fumbler, on a punt return, giving Wake Forest the ball on the Baylor 10. Two plays later, Adams ran four yards for the touchdown to complete the game's scoring.
