San Francisco, CA (My Sportsbook) - Rich Aurilia drove in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning with a two-out triple, leading the Giants to a 4-3 victory over the San Diego Padres in the second of three games.

Barry Zito (8-15) got his third win of August -- the most for any month this season, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks while fanning five in the victory. Brian Wilson pitched a perfect ninth for his NL-leading 34th save of the season.

"The first few innings I was definitely in a good tempo. The key is staying in that tempo no matter what is going on around me," Zito said. "I got away from my approach (in the fourth) but it was nice to come back from that. In the past I might not have."

Aaron Rowand hit two doubles and drove in a run and Pablo Sandoval scored twice for the Giants, who have tied a season-high four-game winning streak.

Dirk Hayhurst didn't factor into the decision in his major league debut, allowing three runs on five hits in four innings while striking out two and walking two. Mike Adams (1-2) took the loss after giving up a run and two hits in two innings of work.

"It was amazing; it was nerve-racking; it was inspiring. There's a lot of adjectives but I don't think any one of them does it justice," Hayhurst said when describing his first major league outing. "It's the culmination of every dream. I realized this is still baseball, the same game at any level."

Chase Headley had a double and two RBI and Jody Gerut had a triple, an RBI and a run scored for the Padres, who have now lost six in a row.

San Francisco went in front for good in the eighth. Rowand led off with his second double of the game, but was thrown out at third on Sandoval's ground ball to first. After Travis Ishikawa flied out, Aurilia hit a two-out triple to right-center field to drive home the game-winning run from first.

The Giants got on the scoreboard in the opening inning. Dave Roberts worked a walk, stole second and moved to third on Ivan Ochoa's bunt single. Randy Winn grounded into a fielder's choice, plating Roberts, and Rowand hit an RBI double, plating Winn for a 2-0 lead.

San Diego tied up the score in the fourth. Adrian Gonzalez led off with a walk, and two batters later Gerut ripped a RBI triple to right. Headley followed with a sacrifice fly to knot the game at two.

Zito helped his own cause in the bottom of the fourth, hitting a two-out RBI single to score Sandoval and regain the lead, 3-2.

Headley hit a two-out RBI double for the Padres in the sixth to tie the game, 3-3.

Game Notes

The Giants lead the season series 9-4...The Padres called up Hayhurst prior to Saturday's game. He posted a 2-3 record with a 3.75 ERA in 46 appearances -- including two starts -- at Triple-A Portland this season. In a related move, the team optioned infielder Brian Myrow to Portland...With this loss, San Diego has lost four consecutive series...Rowand's two doubles gives him 200 for his career.
