Kansas City, MO (My Sportsbook) - Kansas City Royals third baseman Alex Gordon was placed on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a torn muscle in his right leg. Gordon left Thursday's 10-3 loss against the Cleveland Indians with the injury, but was listed at the time as day-to-day. However, further examination revealed a torn muscle -- a deep hip flexor -- that Royals manager Trey Hillman said would probably take weeks to heal. Gordon is batting .254 with 14 home runs and 51 RBI in 122 games this season. Infielder Alberto Callaspo was activated from the disabled list and recalled from a minor league rehab assignment to take Gordon's roster spot. Callaspo was on the DL for undisclosed medical reasons. In 42 games for Kansas City this season, Callaspo has hit .290 with four RBI.
