Aberdeen, Scotland (My Sportsbook) - When Rangers makes the trip to Pittodrie Stadium on Saturday to meet Aberdeen, they will be returning to the place where their Scottish Premier League titles hopes were ended last season.
Gers did not have a lot of success on the Dons' home soil last year, drawing 1-1 before their season-ending 2-0 loss. However, Rangers assistant coach Ally McCoist believes that his team will be anxious to wipe away last season's bad memories and continue their positive start to the SPL campaign.
"We'll be up for the game, don't worry about that," McCoist said.
"We have started fairly well in the league with a couple of good results but Aberdeen is a very difficult place to go at the best of times."
It is not quite the best of times for Walter Smith's men, despite two wins to start the season. Gers were surprisingly knocked out of the Champions League in the qualification stage by Kaunas, but they have rebounded well and appear to be headed in the right direction.
"I wouldn't say that we have come a long way quite yet, but we have certainly managed to get a couple of important results," said McCoist.
"The performance against Hearts was a lot better than the one against Falkirk. "But to come away with six points has been very pleasing. We passed the ball a lot better against Hearts so we are heading in the right direction after a very, very disappointing start."
Things are looking even better for Rangers after the additions of Pedro Mendes, Steven Davis and Maurice Edu, and although there will be no hopes of European glory at Ibrox this season, Gers will be tough to beat as they try for their first league title since the 2004-05 season.
Celtic has claimed the last three league trophies, but they have not been impressive so far this season. The Hoops edged St. Mirren 1-0 in their opener before being held to a 1-1 draw by Dundee United last week. Three points should be a good bet for Gordon Strachan's men as they welcome 0-2 Falkirk to Celtic Park on Saturday.
Promoted side Hamilton has been the big surprise so far, winning its first two games, and they will visit Rugby Park to face Kilmarnock, while Saturday's other matches include Hearts hosting St. Mirren, Hibernian invading Inverness and Dundee United hitting the road to meet Motherwell.
