Atlanta, GA (My Sportsbook) - San Francisco Giants left-hander Jonathan Sanchez was scratched from his scheduled start Saturday against Atlanta due to a left shoulder strain and was placed on the 15-day disabled list. Matt Palmer, recalled to the team Thursday to work in middle relief, will make his major league debut as the replacement starter. The 29-year-old Palmer was working as a starter at Triple-A Fresno where he went 6-9 with a 4.13 earned run average in addition to 137 strikeouts in 131 innings. Sanchez, who is 8-9 with a 4.53 ERA over 24 starts this season, was looking to halt a four-start losing streak. The third-year player is winless in seven starts dating back to June 29, when he went seven strong innings in an 11-1 drubbing of Oakland. To fill Sanchez's roster spot, the Giants recalled Sergio Romo from Fresno. In 16 appearances with San Fran this season, Romo was 1-1 with a 4.41 ERA.
