Cincinnati, OH (My Sportsbook) - The Cincinnati Reds activated Aaron Harang off the 15-day disabled list Sunday after the pitcher recovered from a strained right forearm. However, the former 16-game winner was hit hard in his first start since July 8, in a 13-4 loss to Houston at Great American Ball Park. Harang fell to 3-12 as he was tagged for eight runs on nine hits and one walk in just four innings of work. The Reds optioned pitcher Homer Bailey to Louisville to make room on the roster for Harang. Bailey is 0-6 with a 7.93 ERA in eight starts this season. He last pitched on Wednesday against Milwaukee and took the loss after allowing six runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings. Cincinnati also designated catcher David Ross for assignment and recalled catcher Ryan Hanigan from Louisville. Hanigan hit his first major league home run on Sunday in the bottom of the ninth, a two-run shot Ross was batting just .231 in 52 games with three homers and 13 runs batted in. Hanigan, in 75 games for Louisville, was hitting .324 with four homers and 35 RBI. In five big league games last season, Hanigan was 3-for-10.
