New York, NY (My Sportsbook) - New Jersey Nets forward Richard Jefferson and Dallas Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki on Monday were named the NBA Players of the Week for games played Monday, March 29 through Sunday, April 4. Jefferson, the Eastern Conference winner, led the Nets to a 3-1 week, averaging 22.5 points, 8.8 rebounds and 6.8 assists. He shot 57.9 percent from the field on his way to scoring 20 or more points in eight of his last nine games. Jefferson recorded a season-high 14 rebounds versus Washington and a career-high with 12 assists against Atlanta. Nowitzki, who captured the Western Conference honor, led the Mavericks to a perfect 3-0 week, averaging 32.0 points, 11.7 rebounds and 4.0 assists in games against Cleveland, Sacramento and Phoenix. He recorded a season-high 18 rebounds versus the Cavaliers and scored 34 points in 34 minutes against the Suns. Other nominees were Dallas' Steve Nash, Detroit's Chauncey Billups, Golden State's Jason Richardson, Memphis' James Posey, Miami's Caron Butler, Milwaukee's Brian Skinner, Minnesota's Kevin Garnett and San Antonio's Manu Ginobili.
