San Antonio, TX (My Sportsbook) - Clyde Drexler was one of six new members elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame on Monday. Drexler is joined by legendary coach Bill Sharman, Phoenix Suns owner Jerry Colangelo, women's star Lynette Woodard, the late Maurice Stokes and international guard Drazen Dalipagic. Drexler was named one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history in a 15-year career that included one league title. Drexler, who was known for his speed, ball handling and swooping moves, was selected for the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. He led the Trail Blazers to the NBA finals in 1990 and 1992 and won a championship with Houston in 1995. The inductees were announced Monday in San Antonio, where Connecticut and Georgia Tech will play for the NCAA title tonight. Connecticut coach Jim Calhoun, ESPN college basketball analyst Dick Vitale and Purdue coach Gene Keady were among those nominees not elected to the Hall of Fame. Calhoun will put his Huskies up against Georgia Tech on Monday night for the National Championship. |
