Super-Besse, France (My Sportsbook) - Riccardo Ricco of Italy captured Stage 6 of the Tour de France on Thursday and a fall in the last kilometer by Germany's Stefan Schumacher allowed Luxembourg's Kim Kirchen to grab the overall leader's yellow jersey. Ricco covered the 195.5-kilometer trek from Aigurande to Super-Besse in a time of four hours, 57 minutes and 52 seconds. "This stage is one that I targeted," said Ricco about his first Tour de France stage win. "To come to the Tour and win a stage was my main goal. Now that that has been achieved I'm going to start thinking about a second one." Alejandro Valverde of Spain and Australia's Cadel Evans each finished just one second behind. Frank Schleck of Luxembourg and Kirchen were next, just four seconds back. Kirchen moved to the top of the overall standings by six seconds over Evans, while Schumacher dropped into third -- 16 seconds behind the leader. "The whole day I believed it was possible to take the yellow jersey," Kirchen stated. "The whole week I've been so close to the yellow jersey and I think it's a good thing to have it now." Schumacher was in line to finish with the main pack, but his front tire clipped Kirchen's rear tire, causing the fall. Schumacher wound up 25th in Thursday's stage, 32 seconds behind Ricco. American Christian Vande Velde finished 19th on Thursday and is fourth overall, 44 seconds behind Kirchen. Friday's stage is a 159-kilometer ride from Brioude to Aurillac that features five mountainous climbs.
