Colorado Springs, CO (My Sportsbook) - George Hincapie and Levi Leipheimer were among 21 cyclists nominated for the United States Olympic team.

Hincapie will represent the United States at the Olympics for a fifth time. The 35-year-old from Greenville, South Carolina will participate in the mass start road race.

Leipheimer, who finished third in the 2007 Tour de France, will compete in the mass start road race and the time trial. He was also an Olympian in 2004.

Others nominated for the men's road team were Jason McCartney, Christian Vande Velde and David Zabriskie. Only Kristin Armstrong was nominated for the women's road team, with two others to be selected.

The men's cycling track team will consist of Michael Blatchford, Adam Duvendeck, Michael Friedman, Bobby Lea, Giddeon Massie and Taylor Phinney.

Women's track will feature Sarah Hammer and Jennie Reed.

The mountain bike team will include Adam Craig and Todd Wells for the men and Georgia Gould for the women. One other women's has yet to be determined.

Kyle Bennett, Mike Day and Donny Robinson were named to the men's bicycle motocross (BMX) team, while Jill Kintner earned the lone women's spot for BMX.

"The cycling team that will represent the United States in August is shaping up to be one of the strongest ones we've had in recent history," said USA Cycling Director of Athletics and Team Leader for the Beijing squad, Pat McDonough. "Based on the enormous strides taken by our athletic programs since the last Games and a consistent record of medal-winning performances at various world championships and World Cups by our athletes, I'm confident American cyclists can claim medal potential across all four Olympic disciplines of competitive cycling in Beijing."

The Olympics will take place in China from August 8-24.
