Vienna, Austria (My Sportsbook) - Spain midfielder Xavi has a double reason to celebrate after being named as the best player at Euro 2008.
Xavi, 28, was an integral part of the Spain side that defeated Germany 1-0 in Sunday's final to crown a tournament in which he took the plaudits.
The Barcelona star made five appearances in total and scored one of the goals in the 3-0 semi-final success over Russia.
UEFA technical director Andy Roxburgh said: "We chose him because we think he epitomises the Spanish style of play.
"He was extremely influential in the whole possession, passing, penetrating kind of game that Spain played." Meanwhile, UEFA has also named its squad of the tournament which contains no less than nine Spaniards.
