Virginia Beach, VA (My Sportsbook) - Forward Tiffany Snow, goalkeeper Amy Tran and defender Rachel Dawson headline the 16 members of the U.S. women's Olympic field hockey team that was revealed on Monday.

Snow was the top scorer in the Olympic qualifying tournament with six goals. The women's field hockey team earned a spot in the 2008 Olympic Games with a 3-1 defeat of Belgium in the final game of the World Hockey Olympic Qualifiers in Kazan, Russia in late April.

The team is highlighted by six players who went to North Carolina, four from Old Dominion and three from Maryland.

Captained by midfielder Kate Barber and coached by Queensland, Australia native Lee Bodimeade, this will be the first Olympic field hockey appearance for the U.S. women since 1996. Bodimeade won a silver medal at the 1992 Olympic Games as a member of the Australian field hockey national team.

The U.S. begins competition on August 10 against 2007 Pan American champions Argentina. The Americans are slotted in Pool B with Argentina, Germany, Great Britain, Japan and New Zealand.

The other members of the team are midfielders Kayla Bashore, Carrie Lingo, Lauren Powley and Dana Sensenig, defenders Lauren Crandall, Kelly Doton, Katelyn Falgowski and Caroline Nichols, and forwards Jesse Gey, Angie Loy, Dina Rizzo and Keli Smith.

Goalkeeper Barb Weinberg and defender Sara Silvetti were named as alternates.
