Bridgetown, Barbados (My Sportsbook) - The United States men's national team defeated Barbados, 1-0, on Sunday to complete a 9-0 aggregate win and advanced to the semifinals of CONCACAF qualifying for the 2010 World Cup.

Brian Ching and Clint Dempsey each had two goals in the United States' 8-0 win over Barbados in the first leg on June 22 in Carson, Calif. It was the largest margin of victory in U.S. history.

The United States rested many of its top players, including Landon Donovan, for the second leg in Barbados. Eddie Lewis scored the only goal of the second leg in the 21st minute with an assist from Freddy Adu.

The United States resumes qualifying on Aug. 20.

The U.S. is in Group A of the semifinals with Guatemala and the winner of the Trinidad and Tobago-Bermuda series and Cuba-Antigua and Barbuda series. The semifinals consist of a home-and-away series with each country.

The top two teams from the group advance to the finals, which consists of six teams. The top three teams from the final group advance to the World Cup and the fourth-place team will play the fifth-place team from South America for a spot in the World Cup.

The 2010 World Cup is June 11 to July 11 in South Africa.
