Omaha, NE (My Sportsbook) - The Miami Hurricanes survived their elimination contest with the Florida State Seminoles behind a two-run homer from Jemile Weeks, beating their cross-state rivals 7-5.

The top-seeded Hurricanes now must win three consecutive games to make it to the College World Series finals. Miami next faces the loser of the Stanford- Georgia matchup, slated for Monday evening.

Eric Erickson gave Miami five-plus solid innings for the win, giving up one run on eight hits, six strikeouts and two walks. Kyle Bellamy pitched two scoreless innings in relief, allowing two hits and no walks while striking out three.

Dennis Raben and Jason Hagerty knocked in two runs each while Ryan Jackson added three hits, scoring twice for Miami.

In a losing effort, Buster Posey went 4-for-5 with an RBI for the Seminoles. Dennis Guinn added three hits and an RBI.

Elih Villanueva took the loss for Florida State, allowing four runs on six hits and four walks in 3 2/3 innings.

After a walk and a sacrifice bunt began the third inning, Weeks blasted a shot into the right field seats to give Miami a 2-1 lead. The Hurricanes added two more runs later in the inning on a two-out RBI single from Raben to extend the lead to 4-1.

Posey cut the lead to two with a double to left in the fourth scoring Mike McGee, who reached on an infield single to start the frame.

Ohmed Danesh nearly took the lead for the Seminoles in the seventh with a long drive to left with two men on and two outs, but Adam Severino caught the ball on the warning track, ending the threat.

Hagerty drove in two more for Miami in the bottom half, ripping a bases-loaded single to right. Blake Tekotte blasted a solo home run for the Hurricanes in the eighth.

The Seminoles made things interesting when Carlos Gutierrez got into trouble in the top of the ninth, allowing back-to-back singles to start the inning. The next two batters grounded out, scoring one. Danesh followed with a walk and Tyler Holt hit an RBI single to cut the lead to three. Jason Stidham then lined a single up the middle to drive in another run, making the score 7-5.

Gutierrez continued to struggle as he walked Posey, the leading hitter in college baseball, to load the bases. Jack Rye finally ended the game on a weak ground ball to Weeks, who easily tossed the ball to second base for the final out.

Florida State started the scoring in the opening frame. Guinn doubled to right bringing in Posey, who had earlier singled.

Miami is looking for its first championship since 2001, while Florida State extended its record for most College World Series appearances without a title to 20.
