St. Louis, MO (My Sportsbook) - St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina left Sunday's contest with the Philadelphia Phillies after suffering an apparent neck injury. Molina was hurt in the ninth inning when pinch-runner Eric Bruntlett bowled over Molina at home, trying to score the go-ahead run on a groundout. Bruntlett was ruled out as Molina held on to the ball but the Cardinals backstop remained down for several minutes after his head and shoulder slammed into the dirt beside home plate. Trainers, staff and players surrounded Molina as he was put in a neck brace and placed on a stretcher. The 26-year-old was immediately taken by ambulance from Busch Stadium to a local hospital for further evaluation. The team's medical staff received negative test results, stating that Molina sustained only a mild concussion. He will remain hospitalized overnight as a precautionary measure. Molina was 0-for-3 before exiting and is now batting .295 with three homers and 24 runs batted in this season. Jason LaRue replaced Molina behind the plate.
