Rodney had been on the disabled list and out of action since spring training with right shoulder tendinitis. He is expected to join the club Monday as the Tigers begin an interleague series in San Francisco. The 31-year-old fireballer finished 2-6 with a 4.26 earned run average and one save in 48 games for the Tigers last season. Reliever Aquilino Lopez was optioned to Triple-A Toledo to make room on the roster. Lopez was 2-1 with a 2.67 ERA in 23 appearances this year.
