Lumbres, France (My Sportsbook) - David Dixon rallied from behind Sunday with a five-under 66 to collect his first European Tour win at the Saint-Omer Open.
The Englishman completed the event at five-under-par 279.
After opening the week with a six-over 77, Dixon carded three straight rounds in the 60s to climb from a share of 105th after the opening round and into the winners circle.
"I don't really know what to say. It's unbelievable really, it's everyone's dream to win a European Tour event," Dixon stated. "It's my first win, so it's massive, an awesome feeling. I can't really get my head round it. It's going to take a while to sink in."
Christian Nilsson, who led after the second and third rounds, closed with an even-par 71 to end alone in second at minus-four.
Steven O'Hara carded a three-under 68 to finish alone in third at three-under- par 281. Richard Bland (68), Francois Delamontagne (71) and Seve Benson (67) were one shot further back at minus-two.
Dixon, who played in the second-to-last group, put together a solid run of golf in the middle of the round to overtake Nilsson.
The 31-year-old Dixon opened with six straight pars. He started his hot streak with a birdie on the par-five seventh.
Dixon came right back with a birdie at the eighth. He birdied the par-five ninth for the fourth straight day to get to three-under.
Around the turn, Dixon poured in his fourth consecutive birdie effort on No. 10 at the Val Course at Aa Saint Omer Golf Club.
Nilsson posted eight pars and a birdie on the front nine to make the turn at minus-five.
He stumbled out of the lead due to bogeys on the 11th and 12th that dropped him to three-under. Nilsson got one back with a birdie on 13 to join Dixon and O'Hara in the lead at minus-four.
Dixon parred three straight from the 11th before taking the lead for good as his birdie putt at the 14th found the bottom of the cup. He closed with four pars in a row to secure the win.
"I played really well all day. I was hitting it close on pretty much every hole, and giving myself chances," said Dixon. "Then I just kept playing percentage golf, because the pins were tucked away again. It's been tough to get my first win on the board, but now I have I hope for many more."
Nilsson was unable to mount a charge. He tripped to another bogey at the 15th, but erased that mistake with a birdie on the par-four 16th. However, he could only par the final two holes to take second.
O'Hara was even-par for his round and the tournament after carding three bogeys and three birdies over his first 11 holes.
At the par-four 12th, O'Hara started a run of four straight birdies that gave him a piece of the lead at minus-four. He faltered to a bogey on the 17th to fall back to minus-three.
