Lumbres, France (My Sportsbook) - Christian Nilsson fired a seven-under 64 Friday to jump into the lead after two rounds of the Saint-Omer Open.
Nilsson completed 36 holes at three-under-par 139.
Nilsson's 64 matched the course record on the par-71 Val Course at Aa Saint Omer Golf Club. Brett Rumford (2003) and Jamie Little (2006) had previously shot 64 on the course. Sebastien Delagrange shot 63 in 2001 when the course played as a par-73.
John E. Morgan is the only other player in red figures at minus-one. Morgan managed a one-over 72 in round two.
Alexandre Rocha carded a four-under 67 Friday to move to even-par 142. He was joined in a share of third place by Marco Soffietti (70), Marco Ruiz (68), Liam Bond (69), Mikko Korhonen (73), Gareth Maybin (72) and first-round leader Roope Kakko, who struggled to a three-over 74 in the second round.
With many of the top players in the world playing the U.S. Open, the field this week was filled by players from the European Tour as well as the Challenge Tour.
Nilsson parred the first two holes before his first hot stretch of golf. He birdied the par-four third and made it two in a row with a birdie at four.
The Swede moved to plus-one overall thanks to a birdie at the sixth. He parred five in a row from the seventh.
Nilsson drained a birdie effort at the par-four 12th to get to even-par. He turned it on down the stretch with birdies on three of the last four holes to take the lead and close out a bogey-free round.
"I feel really good at the moment. I had a lot of fun out there today, and not just because I played well," Nilsson stated. "I'm not putting any pressure on myself. I'll just go out there and play my game, and hopefully the results will come."
Morgan, who played a bogey-free round Thursday, parred his first five holes before dropping his first shot of the event at the par-four 15th.
He ran off five consecutive pars from the 16th. Morgan tripped to bogeys on the third and fourth to fall to plus-one. However, he rallied with birdies at seven and nine to finish two back at minus-one.
Steven O'Hara, Nicolas Vanhootegem and Mark F. Haastrup each shot two-under 69 to move into a share of 10th at one-over-par 143. They were joined there by Jan Are Larsen, Sion E. Bebb, Terry Pilkadaris, Eric Ramsay, Seve Benson and Christophe Brazillier.
The cut line fell at six-over-par 148 with 75 players moving on to the final two rounds. Among those missing the cut was three-time European Ryder Cupper Paul McGinley (149).
