Alex Rodriguez doubled in two runs for the Yankees, who have won two in a row after dropping the series-opener and moved over .500 at 32-31. They haven't been more than one game over the .500 mark since improving to 12-10 after an April 23 win over the
Chicago White Sox. Johnny Damon, on the heels of a 6-for-6 effort that included the game-winning hit in Saturday's 12-11 slugfest, was 2-for-5 with a pair of runs scored on Sunday. Abreu finished with three runs batted in and scored twice for New York. Joba Chamberlain made his second start for the Yankees and was much improved over his last outing. After working just 2 1/3 innings five days ago against Toronto, Chamberlain made it into the fifth on Sunday. He was limited to a pitch count of about 75 and threw 78, allowing three runs -- two earned -- on five hits with one walk and five strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings. Dan Giese (1-1), who took the loss in relief of Chamberlain against the Blue Jays, this time earned his first big league win. He tossed 2 2/3 innings of hitless ball, striking out three without a walk. Jose Guillen, after belting two homers and driving in seven runs Saturday, added another home run on Sunday for the Royals, losers in 17 of their last 20. Kansas City starter Zack Greinke (5-4) blanked the Yankees over eight innings back on April 9, but took the loss in this one. He was charged with four runs on six hits with four walks and six strikeouts in five- plus innings.

Toronto, ON (My Sportsbook) - Vernon Wells had three hits, including a solo home run, as the Toronto Blue Jays held on to defeat Baltimore, 5-4, and avoid a three-game sweep by the Orioles. Marco Scutaro added two runs batted in for the Blue Jays, who also snapped a four-game losing streak. Rod Barajas finished with two doubles and an RBI and in the win. Roy Halladay (8-5) grinded through 7 2/3 innings in earning the win. The veteran righty gave up four runs on eight hits, while striking out seven and not allowing a walk. He is now 17-4 in 27 career games versus Baltimore. B.J. Ryan, who blew his last two save opportunities, retired the side in the ninth to earn his 13th save of the season. Luke Scott had a pair of homers and three RBI for the Orioles, who had their three-game winning streak snapped. Despite the loss, Baltimore has won five of its last seven. Radhames Liz went five innings in earning a no-decision, surrendering two runs on four hits. The hard- throwing right-hander, who was making his second start of the season, struck out three and walked three. Matt Albers (3-2) was tagged with the loss after being touched for three runs on two hits in one inning of work.

Detroit, MI (My Sportsbook) - Placido Polanco went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs to lead the Detroit Tigers past the Cleveland Indians, 5-2, in the third installment of a four-game set. Miguel Cabrera also went 2-for-4 and had one RBI for the Tigers, who have won two in a row on the heels of a four-game skid. Curtis Granderson notched his eighth home run of the year, a solo shot in the second inning, and Ivan Rodriguez drove in Detroit's other run. Armando Galarraga (5-2) threw 5 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on four hits. Galarraga has now tossed at least five innings in each of his nine starts this season. Todd Jones earned his 10th save of the year with a perfect ninth. The save moves Jones into a tie with Tom Henke (311) for 16th place on the all- time list. Shin-Soo Choo scored a run and had a double, the only extra- base hit for Cleveland, which has dropped two in a row and three of four. Grady Sizemore and Ryan Garko had a hit and an RBI each in defeat. Jeremy Sowers (0-1) absorbed the loss as he was touched for five runs on seven hits in four frames.

Drew homered and knocked in two runs, and Justin Masterson allowed just three hits over six sterling innings as the Boston Red Sox edged the Seattle Mariners, 2-1, in the rubber match of their three-game series at Fenway Park. Masterson (3-0) allowed just one run, striking out four and walking three for the Red Sox, who have won five of six overall and 15 of their last 16 at home. Jonathan Papelbon worked a 1-2-3 ninth inning to notch his 18th save. Julio Lugo went 1-for-3 with a double, while Coco Crisp singled and scored as the Red Sox won despite managing just five hits. Sean Green (1-2) took the loss for the Mariners, losers in six of their last seven, after allowing a run on three hits over 2 1/3 innings in relief of Erik Bedard, who didn't factor in the decision after holding Boston to a run on two hits over five frames. Chicago has outscored Minnesota, 33-10 thus far in the series and increased its lead over the second-place Twins to 5 1/2 games in the AL Central. Rajai Davis then sliced a single to right field, but Emil Brown went down on strikes.
