Ramirez's two homers help Marlins rout Reds

Miami, FL (My Sportsbook) - Hanley Ramirez belted a pair of two-run homers, as the Florida Marlins walloped the Cincinnati Reds, 9-2, in the third meeting of a four-game series at Dolphin Stadium.

Ryan Tucker (1-0), making his major-league debut, limited the Reds to one run on two hits in five innings of work. The 21-year-old hurler struck out six and walked five. Tucker had made 12 starts at Double-A Carolina, going 4-2 with a 1.41 earned run average at the time of his promotion.

"It went pretty good," Tucker said on his outing. "I felt like I did as good as I could have. I was pretty nervous in the first couple of innings trying to get used to the whole situation."

Dan Uggla doubled twice and knocked in three runs for Florida, which has won three of its last five. Jeremy Hermida went 2-for-5 and scored two runs, while Jorge Cantu had two hits and drove in a run.

Cincinnati starter Aaron Harang (2-9) went 5 1/3 innings and was roughed up for eight runs -- seven earned -- on 11 hits. Harang has dropped his last four decisions since defeating the Marlins on May 12.

"I don't know what's wrong," Harang said. "I just don't have a feel for anything right now. Leaving pitches over the plate is just not normal for me. I have to figure out what it is and go from there."

Corey Patterson clubbed a solo home run and Harang added an RBI single for Cincinnati, which has dropped four of six. Jerry Hairston Jr. notched the Reds other hit with a double to begin the game.

Harang produced the first run of the game in the second inning. Adam Dunn drew a leadoff walk and Tucker just clipped the arm of Edwin Encarnacion with one out. After David Ross struck out on a foul tip, Harang delivered and drilled a 3-2 fastball through the hole on the left side to score Dunn.

Cincinnati's inability to communicate and execute in the field led to Florida tying the game in the third. Mike Rabelo struck out to begin the frame, but took first on a wild pitch. Ramirez smashed a one-out single to center field.

Hermida then lined out to center fielder Jay Bruce, who tried to double off Rabelo at second, but Hairston and second baseman Brandon Phillips got tangled up, allowing the Marlins catcher to make it back safely. The misplay proved costly for the Reds as Cantu poked a single to left field. Dunn charged the ball, but his throw was up the line and Rabelo avoided the swipe tag of Ross at the plate.

The Marlins grabbed a 2-1 lead in the fourth. Uggla had a leadoff double, advanced to third on a fly out by Luis Gonzalez and came home on Cody Ross' sacrifice fly.

Florida broke the game open with a four-run fifth. Pinch-hitter Jacque Jones led off with a single and Ramirez followed by hammering a 2-0 slider into the left field seats. Hermida then reached on an infield single before Cantu popped out to short. Hermida stole second and a single by Wes Helms put runners on the corners for Uggla, who clobbered a Harang fastball that caromed off the minute hand of the clock on the left field wall for a two-run double.

The Marlins tacked on three more runs in the sixth. Rabelo lined a leadoff single and, after Joe Nelson bunted into a force out, Ramirez belted his 14th home run of the season to chase Harang. Gary Majewski was summoned from the bullpen and Hermida greeted him with a base hit to left field. Majewski then beaned Cantu, walked Helms and gave up a sac fly to Uggla.

Patterson's leadoff blast in the eighth was the first hit for Cincinnati since Harang's RBI knock in the second.

Game Notes

Cincinnati's Ken Griffey Jr. remains stuck at 599 career homers after going 0-for-1 with a pair of walks...Cincinnati's Joey Votto went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts...The Reds have lost 17 of their last 22 road games...Cincinnati's Edinson Volquez (8-2) and Florida's Mark Hendrickson (7-3) are scheduled to start the series finale on Monday.
