Fullerton, CA (My Sportsbook) - Florida State, Cal State Fullerton and Georgia all advanced to the Super Regionals with victories on Monday.
Also advancing were Stanford, Texas A&M and Fresno State.
Cal State Fullerton, the national fifth seed, edged UCLA by a 5-4 score to win the Fullerton Regional. The Titans had notched two wins on Sunday, which included an 11-8 win over the Bruins, to get to Monday's deciding game.
Dustin Garneau doubled and drove in three runs for Fullerton, including the winning score in the fifth inning. Brendan Lafferty issued a bases-loaded walk to Garneau to force in a run and push Fullerton's lead to 5-3.
The Bruins got a run in the seventh on a Jermaine Curtis RBI single, but Jeff Kaplan shut UCLA down from there to end the game.
The Titans advanced to face Stanford, which took the Palo Alto Regional on Monday with a 9-7 victory over Pepperdine. Sean Ratliff had two home runs, including a grand slam in a six-run fifth inning for the Cardinal, who staved off elimination on Sunday with a 13-1 crushing of Pepperdine to get to Monday's championship game.
Monday's action included several big wins. Matt Olson batted 5-for-6 with three RBI, while Rich Poythress homered and drove in three as Georgia won the Athens Regional with an 18-6 romp over Georgia Tech. Next up for the eighth- seeded Bulldogs will be North Carolina State, which won the Raleigh Regional on Sunday.
Another big winner on Monday was Florida State, the national fourth seed, which blasted Tulane, 16-7 to take the Tallahassee Regional. Tyler Holt went 5-for-6 and Jason Stidham finished 3-for-5 with four RBI for the Seminoles, who used a six-run fourth inning to surge ahead and advanced to the Super Regional for the first time since 2005.
There, Florida State will meet Wichita State. The Shockers advanced to their second consecutive Super Regional with a comeback, 11-7 win in 10 innings over Oklahoma State on Sunday.
Texas A&M also advanced to the Super Regional with a big win, 13-5, over Houston. Kyle Colligan hit a pair of homers while Darby Brown finished with a pair of hits and four RBI for the Aggies, who scored seven runs in the second inning on the way to the College Station Regional title.
The Aggies will meet sixth-seeded Rice in the Super Regional, as the Owls advanced to that level for the fourth consecutive year with a win over Texas on Sunday.
Holden Sprague and Brandon Burke combined to hold San Diego to one run on six hits, as Fresno State went on to win, 5-1, over the Toreros to win the Long Beach Regional.
Gavin Hedstrom finished 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI for the Bulldogs, who will face Arizona State in the Super Regional. The third-seeded Sun Devils won the Tempe Regional on Sunday with an emphatic 12-0 win over Oklahoma.
