Oklahoma City, OK (My Sportsbook) - Kelsey Spittler hit the go-ahead RBI triple in the top of the ninth inning as Texas A&M beat Florida, 1-0, to earn a spot in the championship of the Women's College World Series.
Earlier in the day, Arizona State rallied for a 3-1 win over Alabama thanks to Jackie Vasquez's three-run homer.
That sets up the best-of-three championship series, which starts Monday night between the Sun Devils and Aggies. It's the first NCAA WCWS championship set for Arizona State and the first appearance in the finals for A&M since 1987.
The Gators forced Sunday night's game with a 6-1 victory over the Aggies earlier in the day, but couldn't get over the hump in the second semifinal.
In the top of the ninth, Macie Morrow singled with two outs before Spittler hit a ball down the right field line for the game's lone run. Spittler was thrown out after rounding third though.
In the bottom half, the Gators, who had a record 70 wins this year, got the first two batters on base as Ali Gardiner and Corrie Brooks singled. However, Mary Ratliff hit into a double play and Megan Bush fouled out to first base to end the game, as the Aggies celebrated on the field.
Megan Gibson had six strikeouts through nine innings for the Aggies, while Stacy Nelson threw the full nine for the Gators in defeat.
Arizona State is the only undefeated team in the NCAA Championship at 8-0 and has outscored its opponents, 41-3. The Sun Devils gave up the game's first run in the third, but struck back for three in the bottom half as Vasquez blasted a pitch from Kelsi Dunne over the wall in right field.
