Chicago, IL (My Sportsbook) - Jermaine Dye hit a pair of home runs and drove in four runs, as Chicago overcame an early deficit to roll past Cleveland, 7-2, in the middle contest of a three-game series from U.S. Cellular Field.
Jim Thome also homered while Joe Crede and Alexei Ramirez picked up an RBI apiece for the White Sox, winners of a season-best seven games in a row.
Javier Vazquez (5-3) won for Chicago, going seven innings in his start and giving up four hits and two runs, fanning seven with one walk.
Michael Aubrey had a solo home run and Travis Hafner added an RBI double for the Indians, losers of five straight.
Paul Byrd (2-4) was the hard-luck loser, allowing five hits and five runs in 5 1/3 innings.
Byrd was cruising early, yielding just one hit through five -- Nick Swisher's fifth-inning single, before encountering trouble in the sixth.
Orlando Cabrera began the inning with a single, followed by a walk to A.J. Pierzynski. Carlos Quentin grounded into a fielder's choice then Dye stepped in and unloaded a pitch deep into the seats in left to put the Sox ahead 3-2.
Thome and Paul Konerko added back-to-back singles and Byrd exited for Jorge Julio. Joe Crede dumped a ball off the base of the wall in left to score Thome and Swisher was walked intentionally to load the bases. Ramirez cranked a line-drive to right for a sac fly to make it 5-2 before Cabrera grounded out to end the rally.
Dye victimized Julio for his second homer of the night, coming with two out in the seventh, to put Chicago ahead by four. Craig Breslow served up a solo shot to Thome and the Pale Hose had a secure 7-2 edge.
Boone Logan and Scott Linebrink combined to hold the Tribe off the scoreboard in the eighth, and Matt Thornton worked around two singles in the ninth to seal the win.
Aubrey's second-inning homer put the Tribe up by a run, and Hafner's sixth- inning double scored Ben Francisco to make it a 2-0 Cleveland edge.
