East Rutherford, NJ (My Sportsbook) - The San Jose Earthquakes will try for their second straight victory in their return season to Major League Soccer when they travel to take on the New York Red Bulls at Giants Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The expansion club topped the Colorado Rapids at Dicks' Sporting Goods Park a week ago for its first victory in three tries thanks to a goal and assist effort from midfielder Ronnie O'Brien.

"Last week we felt that we had made some strides forward in how we played but we couldn't score," O'Brien said after the win. "This week we didn't play as well but got two goals and we did what we had to do to win. We got a lead and then the second half we came out, defended well, scored our second goal and won the game."

The 'Quakes will face a motivated Red Bulls squad that is coming off a disappointing 1-1 draw at home with the New England Revolution, despite playing up a man almost the entire second half. Coach Juan Carlos Osorio was most disappointed in the fact that his team gave a up a free kick equalizer to Jeff Larentowicz after Chris Leitch turned his back in the defensive wall, letting a ball go through and into the net.

"I think that we limited a very good team to one chance. They scored on a free kick," he said. "If I'm honest, as I was in the locker room, I could probably live with the foul, but I cannot live with anybody on the end of the wall turning their back on the ball on an inside shot. I am very disappointed with that. I think that we did what we needed to do; we created enough chances to win this game."

The Red Bulls goal was scored on a brilliant individual effort from star teenage striker Jozy Altidore in the first half of the contest.

"There was a ton of space there, and I went at the guy, and I knew his strengths and weaknesses and had a good shot," Altidore said.

The other half of the Red Bulls' strike tandem - Juan Pablo Angel - has been upgraded from doubtful to questionable on the team's injury report after playing just a half in the last two games with what was thought to be a hamstring injury. After visiting a specialist this week is was diagnosed that he has a nerve-related issue in his back, however.

"The sooner he gets back, the better for everybody," Osorio told bigapplesoccer.com. "I think it's a great relief."
