Lisbon, Portugal (My Sportsbook) - FC Porto has been notified the team and president Pinto da Costa are under investigation for match-fixing during the 2003-04 season. "FC Porto and their president have been notified by the Portuguese Professional Football League (LPFP) of the accusations and investigations concerning matches between FC Porto and Estrela da Amadora, and Beira Mar and FC Porto," a statement on the club's website said. Porto defeated Estrela da Amadora 2-0, while the match at Beira ended in a scoreless draw, but both games are under investigation over allegations of corrupting the referees. FC Porto could be relegated to the second division and Da Costa could face a ban of anywhere from two to 10 years if found guilty of corruption. The club could also be docked three points this season, although they lead by 16 points over second-place Benfica. FC Porto has five days to respond to the charges. The leagues disciplinary committee will rule on the case by the end of the month.
