Des Moines, IA (My Sportsbook) - Kia Vaughn scored a game-high 23 points, leading four players in double figures, as the Rutgers Scarlet Knights recorded a 69-58 win over the Iowa State Cyclones in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena at the Iowa Events Center. Epiphanny Prince generated 17 points for the second-seeded Knights (26-6), while Matee Ajavon and Essence Carson produced 16 and 10 points, respectively. With the win Rutgers will now take on George Washington in the round of 16 in the Greensboro Region. The seventh-seeded Cyclones (21-13) were paced by Heather Ezell and her 19 points, Amanda Nisleit 15 points and Alison Lacey who tossed in 10 points and handed out seven assists in the setback. Although she missed all five of her three-point tries, Kelsey Bolte still came away with eight points and a game- high 11 rebounds. After allowing Ezell to knocked down a three-pointer in the opening moments, the Knights raced out to an 11-4 lead early in the first half and never looked back, claiming a 39-31 advantage at the break. In the second half ISU tried to fight back, but while allowing the Knights to make 55 percent from the field, the Cyclones managed to convert just 4-of-12 out on the perimeter in the frame, leading to the 11-point decision. Rutgers, which made 3-of-6 on three-pointers, focused on the inside where the squad outscored Iowa State 34-18.
