Buenos Aires, Argentina (My Sportsbook) - Boca Juniors striker Martin
Palermo tied the club record for goals on Sunday in a 1-0 win over Gimnasia LP
that took the club to the top of the league table after four games.
The 34-year-old Palermo converted a penalty kick in the 42nd minute for his
180th goal as a member of Boca Juniors, equaling the mark set by Francisco
Varallo in the 1930's.
Palermo, a former Villarreal striker, is the most popular player at Boca and
has gotten off to a great start this season by scoring four goals in the
team's first four games.
Boca is currently level on points with Velez Sarsfield and holds a slight edge
in goal differential. The Argentine giants are hoping to bring home their
first league title since winning the Clausura in 2006.
